Trauma can impact on all elements of a child’s development including Body, Relationships, Brain, Learning, Memory, Behaviour and Emotions.
The Child Trauma Counselling Service is a FREE voluntary service that provides specialist counselling and services for children and young people who have experienced trauma including complex grief and loss, family violence and family breakdown, sexual assault and other types of abuse.
Counselling is available for Cassowary Coast children and young people up to the age of 18 years; and adults who have a history of child sexual assault.

The Child Trauma Counselling Service seeks to empower and support children, young people and their families to learn new strategies to cope with the ongoing impact of trauma.

Improve social engagement with peers and relationships with family members
The Service can be accessed through referral from government or non government organisations, or self referral. Appointments can be made by phone, email or in person at the Centre.
